He calls me in a special way

MY CALL

 By Sr.  Therese

Since I was young, I was interested to hear stories about God. It grew more especially, when I attended my religion class as well as hearing the Sunday Masses together with my family. My vocation started, I would say strongly when I met a nun who supervised me in school during her religion class with us.  Then, I realized that God was calling me to follow Him through religious life. So I approached one of the nuns in whom I was quite closed.  She helped me a lot and I poured out to her my inner desire believing that she would help me where to enter and when.

Right after my graduation in high school I met two missionaries in my place. I took the opportunity to go with them in a certain period of time to have at least an experience before I would make my final decision.  After that beautiful event, I volunteered myself as a catechist in my parish. And it helped me a lot how to deepen my vocation. God chose the right time and place. On August 06 2000, in Cebu City, the community of the Teresian Sisters of Cebu, Philippines was there. They opened to me the gate that led to the realization of my desire to follow God.

I can still remember how my family opposed my decision. In fact my mother told me that this kind of life was not for me…telling me that one day I would return home. I took it as a challenge and God provided me the strength I needed to continue with my journey.  So, time had passed and everything was relied in the hands of God. Yes, I returned home not for turning back, but only for vacation and my mother was so glad upon seeing me contented in my life.

My heart is filled with joy now. I always thank God for all the blessings He has showered on me. It’s true; all things are possible for those who believe in Him. I am perpetually professed at present and I am so willing to offer my life to God and for his glory. And may He bless my simple desire to serve him through my community and  the Church.
